Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering with the Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo (ECOSLO) allows for the opportunity to join our team as we work to protect and advocate for the beautiful natural environment here in San Luis Obispo County. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities with varying levels of time commitment.

One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Beach Keepers Monthly Beach Cleanup
What: Monthly beach cleanups through ECOSLO’s new “Beach Keepers” program
When: Monthly from April-October, from 9am-11am

SLO County Parks Volunteer Projects
What: Volunteer projects in partnership with San Luis Obispo County Parks and Recreation Department.
When: Once a month, usually on a Saturday, ~3 hours

Creeks to Coast Cleanup (formerly known as Coastal Cleanup Day)
What: Creeks to Coast Cleanup is a countywide cleanup, North to South, inland to the coast.
When: Saturday, September 21st, 2019 @ 9am-12pm
Where: 50+ cleanup sites in SLO County including coastal and inland locations. See our C2C page for more info.
Seas to Trees Day
What: Join us for our second annual Seas to Trees Day! Choose one of six volunteer projects throughout San Luis Obispo County, from beach cleanups to tree plantings.
When: Saturday, May 4, 2019 @ 9:30am-12pm
Where: Eight volunteer projects throughout SLO County from Cambria to Avila.
Mid-Level Volunteer Opportunities
ECOSLO Rep
What: Represent ECOSLO at festivals, fairs, and other tabling events. Shifts are in two hour intervals
When: Check our calendar for upcoming dates.
Where: Various locations throughout SLO County. Check our calendar for dates and locations.
Cleanup Captain
What: Lead one of our monthly Beach Keepers beach cleanups or a Creeks to Coast Cleanup site.
When: Beach Keepers is the first Saturday of every month, Creeks to Coast Cleanup is September 21st, 2019. Shifts are approximately 4 hours long.

SLO Stewards Virtual Volunteer
What: Assist in our quarterly, monthly, or weekly promotion of our educational docent-led hikes. These small, remote volunteer roles allows volunteers to help in promoting hikes and choose the capacity that they would like to assist in promotion.
When: Hikes occur about 3x/month, but this role is dependent on when the volunteer is able to assist.
Where: From the comfort of your own home and on your own schedule!
Long-Term Volunteer Opportunities
Fundraising Committee Member
What: Be a part of ECOSLO’s fundraising committee – The Fundraising Committee’s job is not simply to raise money. Instead, the Fundraising Committee is responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall fundraising and, in particular, the fundraising done by the board and volunteers.
When: Committee meetings are the 3rd Monday of the month from 6pm-8pm. 1-year commitment is required.

ECOSLO Board Member
What: Be a part of the ECOSLO board and be responsible for the oversight and governance for the organization. Provide your unique capabilities to sustain and grow ECOSLO!
When: Board meetings are the 2nd Monday of the odd-numbered months from 6pm-8pm. 2-year commitment is required.
