Megan’s First Hike

Megan’s First Hike

Jan 10th marked my inaugural hike to the top of Cerro San Luis with students and community members in tow. A few scattered rain clouds framed the sky with the promise of showers, but no raindrops fell that day. The group was excited to gather and start on the moderate 2 mile hike. Ivey (my hiking dog) headed up the group and led the way to Cerro San Luis’ beautiful summit where pictures were taken, fresh air breathed, and dogs watered (we passed about 15 dogs that day!) One of the best parts: several vultures were circling as we ascended and we got to spot those scavenger birds up close, red wrinkly heads and all. At the top, we were finally above them and could see their beautiful wings as they glided below us. Amazing!              ...
